Randa's obituary
Randa Turgman Awwad
December 9, 1964 – March 8, 2025
With profound sorrow and immense love, we announce the passing of Randa Turgman Awwad, who left this world on March 8, 2025, in San Francisco at the age of 60. Born on December 9, 1964, in Amman, Jordan, to Palestinian parents, Anton and Margaret Turgman, Randa was a beacon of strength, warmth, and boundless love. Her life was a testament to resilience, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to those she held dear.
Randa spent years serving as a medical interpreter, tirelessly working to bridge language barriers for refugee communities in need. She was more than a translator—she was a voice for the unheard, an advocate for the vulnerable, and a source of comfort to those facing uncertainty. She believed that no one should feel lost or alone, especially in moments of crisis, and she made it her life’s mission to guide, support, and uplift those around her. Her compassion wasn’t just part of her job—it was the very essence of who she was. Throughout her life, Randa continuously advocated for and supported her people in Palestine, always finding ways to contribute to the cause and stand in solidarity with her homeland. She was also dedicated to educating those around her about Palestine, sharing the stories and history of her people and ensuring that their struggles and resilience were never forgotten.
Beyond her work, Randa had a heart that radiated kindness. She loved deeply, gave selflessly, and embraced life with open arms. She had a fierce spirit, a contagious laugh, and an energy filling every room she entered. She found joy in the simplest of moments—sharing a meal with loved ones, telling stories that would bring a smile to your face, and making everyone feel like family. But above all, she found peace by the ocean. The sea called to her, and she answered by embarking on countless cruises, where she could lose herself in the rhythm of the waves and the vast beauty of the horizon. The ocean was where she felt most free, most alive.
Randa’s journey was not an easy one. She fought her entire life, facing illness and hardship with a strength that was nothing short of extraordinary. But through it all, she never let the struggles dim her light. She refused to let sickness define her—she danced, she laughed, and she cherished every moment life had to offer. She lived, truly and fully, with courage and gratitude. Her life was proof that joy can exist even in the face of adversity, that love can overpower pain, and that a person’s spirit can shine brightly no matter the darkness they endure.
Randa is survived by her loving husband, Ibrahim Awwad, her children, Joseph Awwad and Megan Awwad, and her son-in-law, Ramon Hunter. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the love she gave so freely, and the memories she left behind.
A funeral service will be held on March 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 500 Fairview Ave, Brentwood, CA 94513, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:30 PM at Club Los Meganos, 1700 Trilogy Parkway, Brentwood, CA 94513.

Randa’s spirit will forever be carried by the waves she loved, in the hearts of those she cherished, and in the endless love she left behind. May she rest in eternal peace.
