Ralph's obituary
Ralph Stein of Brighton, MI, a devoted husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 10, 2024. A lover of travel and a man of remarkable intelligence and wit, Ralph was known for his keen mind and passion for travel, baseball, hunting, water skiing, and The Who, but mostly for spending time with his family. His love for travel took him around the country; he toured nearly all of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpieces and visited all the national parks in the United States.
Ralph was a dedicated athlete with a passion for baseball, building strong bonds with his teammates over the years. When the season ended and the weather grew colder, he would head north to hunt ruffed grouse with his closest friends. He always enjoyed time with family over the holidays, savoring bourbon on the rocks, board games, and Thanksgiving "Penney stuffing"—he was in his element.
Ralph was the devoted husband of Denise, with whom he shared many beautiful years of marriage. He was the proud stepfather of three children—Andy (Amber) Penney, Allison (Steven) Savanna, and Alan (Alexandra) Penney—and a devoted grandfather to four beloved grandchildren—Jude, Denton, Ellie, and Jack—with whom he shared a deep bond. Ralph was also a loving brother to Cynthia (Nick) Davies, Greg Stein, Marilyn (Art) Palmer, and Bruce (Kathy) Stein. His bond with his siblings was strong, and they will remember him for his kindness, warmth, and support.
He was a man who cherished his family above all. He took special care to ensure that his beloved wife Denise was always well cared for. His kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family made him an exemplary husband, stepfather, grandfather, and uncle.
Ralph's life will be honored on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Keehn Griffin Funeral Home, 706 W. Main Street, Brighton, MI. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
Ralph’s memory will be forever cherished by his family and friends.
