Born on March 26, 1955, in Compton, California, Ralph was the son of James and Geraldine Avey. He spent his early years in Covina, California, where he completed high school. In 1978, he married Rhonda Harris, and together they had two children, Brian and Valdena. Ralph was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren.
