Ralph's obituary
Ralph Aucoin battled Parkinson's for 14 years and was eventually taken from us as he battled pancreatic cancer. He was forced to stop working several years ago as his body began to give out.
The family asks those who are able to donate to the Ralph Clayton Aucoin Memorial Fund. We are asking for donations to assist with funeral costs and to help his wife Marisol with lost wages due to months of hospital stays this year. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated and will help our family move forward without adding to our debt.
Full Obituary: Ralph Clayton Aucoin died at home in Clemson, SC, October 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family and special friends.
Ralph lost a valiant fight to pancreatic cancer and a 14-year battle against Parkinson’s.
Ralph was born on July 29, 1960, the son of the late Clayton Verl Aucoin and Claire Russell Aucoin. He married the love his life Marisol Diez Aucoin in 1993 and raised two wonderful sons, Kevin Clayton and Jean-Paul.
He had lived in Clemson since he was 3 years old and fell in love with the Clemson Tigers. He went on to graduate from Clemson University in 1983, a member of Kappa Sigma where he gained many brothers. He used his keen eye for design and love for architecture to build a career in residential development in Florida and South Carolina. In partnership with his wife, he designed and managed, Soluna, a state-of- the-art salon and spa in Seneca.
Ralph shared many good times and memories with a large group of dear friends. He was a people person, always ready to listen to a story and share a laugh. His marriage to Marisol expanded his friendships and family to Colombia, a country and culture he treasured. He will be remembered as a sweet optimist with an adventurous spirit who knew how to find the joy in life. Although he had to deal with many serious issues, he always faced his hardships with grace and kindness.
Family was Ralph’s top priority and he always looked forward to holidays, vacations, and watching Clemson games together. His family extended beyond his blood relationships to many friends and young people he mentored throughout his life. Everyone he met was special to him. No one could say Ralph Aucoin without a smile on their face.
Ralph is survived by his wife and sons, his sisters Leslie Aucoin (Vernon Drew) and Marcia Springfield (Randy), his sister-in-law Angela Tello (Adrian), his mother-in-law, Emma Diez, nephew Patrick Springfield, Daniel Tello, and Thomas Drew and his nieces Kelly Koonce and Elizabeth Tello, his maternal aunts, many cousins, and “sons by choice” Jonathan Awada and Jonathan Escobar.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 AM, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Clemson, SC.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
