Wicks's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raj "Wicks" Wickramasekaran on April 23, 2024. Born on September 1, 1943, Papa, as he was affectionately known, etched a life marked by discipline, warmth, kindness, wisdom, and care. His cheerful nature was a beacon of light to all those who had the privilege to interact with him.
Wicks's legacy is imprinted with kindness and compassion. An avid seeker of knowledge, his life lessons and principles continue to resonate with those he left behind. "Do your best," he used to say, encapsulating his philosophy in simple yet powerful words.
His accomplishments are multifold. From taking care of his parents to being a devoted father and grandfather, his life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to family. His distinguished career as a physician was marked by exemplary service, and his keen intellect and self-discipline enabled him to stand out as a top student. Although he retired from active medical practice over a decade ago, his inherent caring nature kept him involved in the well-being of friends and family. He never missed an opportunity to call and check up on anyone ailing or in recovery.
Wicks is survived by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched with his love, wisdom, and kindness.
A burial service will be held at the Old North Church on May 25, 2024, at 2:30 PM. A Celebration of Life service will follow, to honor Wicks' remarkable life and lasting impact. His life narrative is an embodiment of kindness, discipline, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He will be deeply missed, yet his legacy of love and compassion continues to inspire us.
