Rachel's obituary
Rachel Mae Wilson, born on March 2nd, 2003, passed away on September 22nd, 2018. She leaves behind her mother, Sharon Wilson, and her beloved sister, Hannah Wilson.
As a regular attendee at St. Ambrose Church, Rachel was a pillar of her faith community. Her nurturing nature extended beyond the church doors to those who knew her best. Her favorite pastimes included enjoying a refreshing Nestea iced tea, losing herself in a good book such as 'Then She Was Gone', or 'I'll Give You The Sun', and being uplifted by the music of The Chainsmokers and Coldplay.
She had a passion for comedy and romance movies, and she loved to exercise by dancing and playing volleyball. A hometown girl at heart, Rachel often frequented her favorite local spot, Jacob's Landing. A lover of roasted chicken, creamy pasta, and strawberry ice cream, she appreciated the simple pleasures in life.
Rachel's heart was expansive. She cared deeply for her little sister and her dog, and she was known for her compassionate, modest, and benevolent personality. She was a lover of all things pink and found enjoyment in her favorite television shows, which included Big Little Lies, Stranger Things, and The 100.
Her recreational activities such as walking her dog and spending time with friends were indicative of her approachable, unpretentious nature. She imparted wisdom beyond her years, teaching us that 'Listening is an act of love'.
Rachel's greatest accomplishment was maintaining her integrity and gentle nature in competitive or potentially toxic environments. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and acceptance. Rachel was approachable and non-judgmental, creating an environment where people felt safe to fail, learn, and be themselves.
Her humility allowed her to notice the things others often overlooked. It is this humble and loving spirit that we will remember and seek to emulate. She is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
