Rachel's obituary

Rachel Margaret Gutierrez, age 85, was born in Pampa, Texas on April 1, 1939 to William T Hill and Ella Dawn Horn. Rachel was the baby of their five children. She was preceded in death by both her parents and her siblings, Virginia E Cisco-Jones, William T Hill, Jr., Clyde Wayne Hill, Woodley Eugene Hill, Melba Joyce Hill.

Rachel met Joe Gutierrez in Amarillo, TX when she was going to beauty school. She met his twin brother Johnny first, but then she met Joe and she knew he was the one for her. They were married and made their way eventually to California where they had their two daughters Ella Gayle (John) Wheeler and Rebecca Ann (Kris) Kussee. They made La Habra their home for many years.

Rachel began her life-long love of working on hair, doing sets and comb outs at the Lovely Lady. She worked at the shop for 12 yrs before finally buying it. She knew that owning her own business was what she always wanted. Rachel loved the people she met doing hair and made long lasting friends of the people she worked with. She worked into her late 70s and finally turned in her shears and retired.

Rachel’s life was full of service to those around her and to her many cats that she rescued and loved. Everyone that met her became her friend. She enjoyed playing cards, Bunco and going out to eat with her many people. She loved having fun everywhere she went and always wanted to do crafts with her grandkids.

The other huge part of Rachel’s life was her family. She did her best to be present at as many of their big events as possible. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Tyler, Kole, Jessica, Talya, Tanner, and Morgan; 10 great-grandchildren: Dylin, Rylee, Piper, Lane, Stuart, Finn, Brooks, Penelope, Lyndle, and Joelle. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe and her daughter Gayle. She leaves behind other dear family members too many to name. Each of them knew how much they meant to her too.

There will be a memorial service held at the La Habra building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (2351 E La Habra Blvd. La Habra, CA 90631) Service will be held on April 5th and begin at 11am. All that knew her are welcome to attend.
