In lieu of flowers

Please consider a contribution to Help Honor Rachel D. Byrn with a Peaceful Burial.

Background

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Rachel D. Byrn, on October 15, 2025, at the age of 74.

Our Mother was a warm, loving woman, a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family, with a smile that lit up every room and a heart full of kindness. She touched so many lives with her unwavering support, baking delicious home-cooked meals, and loved to crochet blankets for warmth for friends and family. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling, and had a deep faith in Christ. Rachel will be deeply missed by her children, Rebecca and Hollie Kagey, and grandchildren, Avery Knapp, Chloe Engels, Willow Engels, and Sarah Torres Govoni, as well as all who knew her.

Unfortunately, Mom passed away without life insurance and with limited savings. As her family, we were unprepared for the sudden expenses of giving her the dignified farewell she deserves. We have already arranged for a private cremation, but we still need help covering the costs of the cremation services and burial plot so her ashes can have a peaceful, permanent resting place where we can visit and remember her.

The main expenses include:

💙 Direct cremation services (including transportation, permits, and basic urn) - estimated at $1,000 - $2,500

💙 A single burial plot in a local cemetery - estimate at $2,000 - $5,000

💙Additional fees (death certificates, interment, etc.) - a few hundred dollars

We are aiming to raise close to $10,000 to cover these essential costs and ensure everything is handled with the respect and love she always showed us. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference and help ease this burden during an already difficult time.

If you can't contribute financially, please consider sharing this page with others who knew and loved our Mom, Rachel - it would mean the world to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support, prayers, or kind words. Your generosity will help us honor her memory properly and keep her spirit close.

With gratitude,
Hollie Kagey, Rebecca Kagey
