Dripx. was part of jazz saxophonist Grover Washington’s backing band in the 1970s. He went on to perform with notable artists including Whitney Houston (1963–2012), Anita Baker, Wyclef Jean, and Erykah Badu. In 1997, Gibbs became the musical director and bandleader for “Emeril Live,” the Food Network show hosted by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse. He remained with “Emeril Live” until its 2007 cancellation. Dripx was also a percussion instructor and a priest in the Yoruba faith.
