Pyela's obituary
Pyela Curtis, beloved wife, mother, aunt, and a beacon of light to all who knew her, was born on July 26, 1967, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She passed away on December 22, 2025, at Kindred Hospital in Ontario, California, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering compassion.
Pyela lived a life defined by care for others. Always motivated to help and uplift those around her, she possessed a rare balance of a fiery spirit and a gentle heart. Her passion, dependability, and warmth made her unforgettable to the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Driven by a calling to facilitate law and order in her community, Pyela began correctional work with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. While there, she procured an Associate’s Degree in Cardiology and became a cardiovascular technologist, continuing her lifelong commitment to service and care. She worked at Hoag Hospital, then the largest hospital in Orange County, where her skill and dedication helped countless patients during some of their most critical moments. It was there that she met her husband, Alston Curtis. They married in 1990 and built a life grounded in love, resilience, and devotion.
In 2003, Pyela became a mother, a role she cherished deeply. Her love for her son was boundless, and she poured her heart into nurturing, supporting, and guiding him with strength and grace.
Pyela is survived by her devoted husband, Alston Curtis, and her beloved son, Noah Curtis. Though she is no longer with us in body, her light, kindness, and fierce love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
