Puong's obituary
Mary's life as a piano teacher began after receiving an American scholarship to study piano at the National Taiwan Academy of Arts. She would then become part of one of the first graduating classes of the National Taiwan Academy of Arts. Upon graduation, she began teaching music at Chung Hwa Middle School in Brunei Darussalam where she would meet her future husband Conrado Azcona. She would soon have a large piano studio in Brunei sending students through the Royal Schools of Music, London and Trinity College of Music, London curriculum. In 1997, she and her husband immigrated to Baltimore to live with their daughter where she continued to have a piano studio until the passing of her husband. She leaves behind a legacy of piano students on two continents.
Mary would beat the odds of her pancreatic cancer diagnosis. She was given originally a 6 month life expectancy and lived a resilient two years and three months.
