Pui Ching Leung, September 11, 1941 - September 18, 2022, Sacramento, California
On Sunday, September 18, 2022, Pui Ching Leung, loving wife and mother of two daughters, passed away at the age of 81. Pui Ching Lam was born on September 11, 1941 in Hong Kong and was the eldest of nine siblings.
She was known as “big sister” and worked to support her family in Hong Kong where she met Po Sing Leung. They married in 1968 and emigrated to the United States in 1969 to seek better opportunities. They first settled in Stockton before moving to San Francisco.
Pui Ching worked most of her life side by side with her husband at their Chinese restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. She picked up enough English to work the front of the house and even learned Spanish when they moved to the Mission District to run their restaurant there. She loved traveling, knitting, and keeping up with the news and sports. She was known for her calm and quiet demeanor and devotion to her family.
Pui Ching was preceded in death by her father, Chiu Lam, her mother, Sui Kwan Ho, and her brother. She is survived by her husband Po Sing, her two daughters, Hing Ting Leung and Shelly Howard, two grandchildren, three brothers, four sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Sacramento Memorial Lawn at 6100 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA at 10 a.m.
