Protacio's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Protacio Jimenez Perez, a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Born on June 19,1939, Protacio passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on June 10, 2023, just shy of his 84th birthday.
The third of four children, he was born in Manila, Philippines and spent his childhood in his father's hometown of Pototan, Iloilo before moving to Bacoor, Cavite in his adolescent years. Protacio, often known as Tacio, was named after his native land's national hero, Jose Protacio Rizal, with whom he shared the same birthday with.
He held various jobs as a driver, and later on worked as a chauffeur to the well-known Araneta family, which he proudly served for many years. He also worked as a merchant marine traveling across Asia and Africa. Eventually, he established and operated a successful mussel farm business with his wife, with which he was able to provide a comfortable and fulfilling life for his family. He was a strong advocate for the fishermen in his hometown of Bacoor, Cavite and fought fervently to protect their livelihood.
In 1995, he immigrated to the United States and took employment as a warehouse associate with a merchandising company where he worked until retirement.
He found joy in fishing, gardening, watching tennis and basketball games, and followed his favorite basketball player, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. A fan of western and detective TV shows, Protacio also enjoyed playing mahjong with his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Protacio is survived by his devoted wife, Hermilina Perez, and their children: Annie Inocencio, Michael Perez, Patrick Perez, and Golldie Nagal. Protacio was a proud father-in-law to Jony Perez and Jurgen Nagal, and a cherished grandfather to Nikki Inocencio, Kevin Inocencio, Kael Perez, and Kristel Perez.
He will always be remembered as a kind, generous, and compassionate man, who touched the lives of many with his warm spirit. To honor and celebrate his life, a funeral service will be held on June 24, 2023 at 2:15 PM at 115 S Country Club Drive, Mesa, Arizona. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate the life of a man who brought joy and love into the lives of those around him.
Protacio "Tacio" Jimenez Perez will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy and passion for helping others will always be remembered by many.
