Priscilla's obituary

We regretfully announce the passing of Priscilla Faith Ryser, 79, on March 15, 2022 in Olympia, WA after a tough battle with cancer. She was born February 8, 1943 in Aberdeen, WA to Jack L. And Opal C. Waunch. Priscilla grew up in southwest Washington where she graduated from high school in 1963. After graduation, she worked as a candy striper at Harborview Hospital serving others, and as a switchboard operator/receptionist for multiple companies.

She married Douglas C. Ryser June 13, 1964 at Centralia Assembly of God church in Centralia, WA and they later had two children together, Doreen and Doug. She was a faithful companion of 58 years. After her own father’s passing, she lovingly cared for her aging mother during some difficult later years.

As a child, Priscilla suffered from the heart damaging condition of rheumatic fever. In her weakened state she experienced a comforting visitation from the Lord during one of her many heart events. At a church meeting with (the late) Oral Roberts, she was prayed for and healed, never to suffer from the condition again, giving extra meaning to her middle name, Faith. The family enjoyed revisiting that memory many times whenever facing some challenging trial.

In addition to raising her own children, Priscilla also spent many years caring for the children of other families in a loving home daycare setting. She formed friendships with the families and a close connection to the children she cared for. Priscilla served the churches she attended most often in the nursery, but also served in women’s ministry events and choir. She was passionate about gardening and created beautiful places of living artistry where many passersby stopped to appreciate her work.

Priscilla is survived by her spouse Douglas of Olympia, WA; her daughter Doreen (Jerry) of Hayden, ID, and son Doug (Aleta) of Monroe, WA, plus five terrific and loved grandsons, Mitchell (Sarah), Carver (Sophy), Josiah, Jackson & Logan, brother Fred Waunch and sister Jackie Fretwell. She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Opal Waunch.

The family rests in the comfort of knowing she was welcomed into the arms of our Lord, where there is no more sickness or pain.
