Priscilla's obituary

Priscilla Ann Eversull Erie of Baton Rouge, LA was born in Alexandria, LA on November 22, 1948 then called home by God on April 5, 2023 at the age of 74 and just 3 months before her 53rd wedding anniversary.

She passed suddenly from an acute bone marrow failure that aggressively stole her life after a bout of pneumonia.

Pris achieved her childhood dream of becoming a registered nurse upon receiving her diploma from Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing in 1971. She later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from the College of St. Francis.

Her nursing career quickly took her into home health where she dedicated over 30 years of her life attending to patients’ medical and psychiatric needs in their homes. She was the first Medicare Certified Psychiatric Nurse in the State of Louisiana. She retired from the VA where she pioneered a program providing homeless vets with psychiatric services.

She met the love of her life, Robert Tighe Erie Jr in her mother’s kitchen and after courting  she married him on July 2, 1970. Together they raised 4 children: Ann Marie, Heather Leigh, Rachael Mary, and Alexander Tighe.

Pris was a natural teacher and mentor with a passion for sharing knowledge and helping people. She was an avid bridge player and antique collector; she operated an antique booth for several years. She loved auctions, shopping, cooking, hosting elaborate holiday events for her family and she was active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She was a true friend and exceptional mother. As a member of St. George Church and School in the 1970s and 1980s, she chaired the parish fair twice and helped raise money for the building of the mausoleum, the gymnasium, and the administrative offices.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Tighe Erie Jr; her children, Ann Marie Erie, Rachael Mary Erie Hopp (Nathan), and Alexander Tighe Erie (Megan); five grandchildren, Anna Raquel, Kylie Tighe, Juliana Marie, Jenna Storm, and Nora Lucille Ann; and her brothers, Kingston Edward Eversull Jr. and Andrew Charles Eversull.

She is preceded in death by both parents, Violet Tullos Eversull and Kingston Edward Eversull Sr.; her second daughter, Heather Leigh Erie Cullipher, and her stillborn son.

Funeral services will be held on April 10, 2023 at St. George Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30am with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11am and interment at the church’s mausoleum immediately following.
