What can you say about a 59 year friendship? Pony and I first met in third grade. We bonded over a love of books and animals (especially horses). We spent many an hour at Shannon stables on the weekends, riding until our money ran out. Over the years, we went to different schools, lived in different cities and states, and grew into different political views, but still remained friends. We talked each other through the sorrows and joys of life, counseled each other when we could, and cried on each other's shoulders at times. Since I moved back to the Birmingham area, we would have a good, long talk about once a week, and met for breakfast about once a month. I'll miss her more than I can say.

Pony has been my step-daughter since 1960. She loved Jesus, family, friends, her country and animals . I love her and miss her very much.

I will miss Pony SO much. She was truly one of a kind. If ANYONE she knew needed help, she was first in line. She had strong opinions, strong emotions, and a strong faith in God. She was funny, loving, and made sure everyone she loved was taken care of. I had known Pony for decades, but I was still learning about her. She was amazing!
