Poe Ciampa was born on August 11th, 2000 and crossed the Rainbow Bridge to Heaven on October 12th, 2020 in the arms of Stephen, his best friend. He was an extremely special cat that set an example of a life we all should follow. Throughout his life he touched many lives with his kindness and compassion, and brought many smiles to all who knew him. In times of needing comfort or just to bring happiness to others, Poe had a special gift of being able to turn any day into a happy one no matter the circumstance. Poe was a true friend who would do little things such as holding your hand with his paw or jump up next to you in bed and snuggle into your arms when you most needed it.

Poe and Holly our German Shepherd, which was his favorite sister, shared such a special bond that they never left each others side. One of the fondest memories is that Poe always let Holly know when he walked in the room who was boss by announcing his entrance and telling her to move out of his spot with a big boisterous meow! This always would bring everyone plenty of laughter! Poe in his younger years loved being outside and roaming for Queens as he was a true ladies man that other female cats in the neighborhood loved dearly. Lets not forget also that Poe loved to pose and model for the camera at any opportunity you gave him and because of this he was voted sexiest male cat of the year in 2007 by Cat Quarterly Magazine. Poe was a huge fan of the Chicago Bears, loved music especially classic rock, smooth jazz, and 80's pop. His favorite song was Stray Cat Strut by his favorite band, The Stray Cats. Poe's favorite toy was his Bergan Turbo Scratcher Cat Toy, which was given to him by his mama Michelle. On many occasions he would call Stephen to come play against him for some needed exercise. Another favorite activity of Poe's was that he absolutely enjoyed hunting at night for critters with his sister Holly, and catching possums! One night during the summer of 2016, Poe and Holly thought it would be fun to bring one in the house as a gift! This almost gave his mama Michelle and Nana Karen a heart attack! Luckily Stephen knew the Possum was playing dead and simply brought it back outside never to be seen again.

Snuggling in the evening with Stephen and Michelle was a very special time that Poe enjoyed each and every day, watching golf, listening to his favorite music, and having family movie night with lots of popcorn. When it came to food, Poe's favorite meal was a cheeseburger from McDonalds and Vanilla Ice Cream, and he was a huge fan of grilled chicken fresh off the grill in the summer time along with weekly family Saturday morning breakfasts that included another personal favorite, fresh bacon. He also absolutely loved Temptations cat treats that his Nana Karen would prepare for him, along with the many kisses he would receive from her and each member of the family. For a very special treat he was an avid fan of his favorite pizza place, Ats A Nice pizza in Romeoville. Michelle always would say " Steve, when you married me you actually married Poe" and yes that was always true to an extent because Stephen and Poe had a very special bond that will never be replaced. If there is one thing we can learn from Poe, its that life should be lived with kindness, and bringing love to everyone's lives the best we can.

Poe was preceded in death by his grandmother Pandora, his sister German Shepherds Meatball, Lucky, Lilly and human Papa David Ciampa and his mama cat Anastasia. He is survived by his human Nana Karen Ciampa, human Mama Michelle Ciampa, sister Holly Ciampa, dear Brothers Mufasa and Puma, human Uncle Tony Ciampa (Crissy), cousins Evan and Sam Ciampa and human father and best friend Stephen Ryan. Poe will be greatly missed and we loved him with all our hearts. We can't wait to meet him again once we cross the Rainbow Bridge together with him one day.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

We love you Poe, always and forever.
