Rudy's obituary
Pietro Rodolfo "Rudy" Spillare was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly on December 16, 2021, at the age of 90. He will be remembered for his wit and affable good-nature.
Rudy was born to Antonio and Yolanda Spillare on September 4, 1931, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. After graduating from Woonsocket High School, Rudy enlisted in the Air Force and served for three years. After his service, Rudy worked as a civilian computer programmer for the Department of Defense at Cameron Station in Alexandria, Virginia for over thirty years.
Rudy married Shelby Jean Jones in 1957. They raised three children in Annandale, Virginia: Sharon, Bryan, and Christopher. After over 30 years in Virginia, Rudy and Shelby retired to Shelby's hometown of Selma, North Carolina for eight years before settling in Brevard County, Florida where they have lived for the last twenty years. Rudy was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, the Brevard County Italian Club, and Counsil 3746 of Knights of Columbus of Brevard County. He greatly enjoyed Grand Isle community activities, and loved his church.
Rudy was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Yolanda Spillare. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shelby Spillare; daughter, Sharon Spillare; son, Bryan Spillare and wife, Lisa; son, Chris Spillare and wife, Kim; sister, Thelma Montecalvo; brother, Roger Spillere; four grandchildren, Brendan, Meghan, Kyle and Kendall; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church at 5655 Stadium Parkway, Viera, Florida on February 19, 2022 at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will be held after the memorial service at 12:30 PM at the Grand Isle Clubhouse at 1910 Grand Isle Blvd, Viera, FL.
