Phyllis's obituary
Phyllis LeAnne Mountain was an artist, crafter, singer, animal lover & rescuer, language lover, mother, wife, and grandmother and friend- She had a vibrant personality.
She was born in Wasco, California to Jean and Donald Funk and lived her whole life in the Golden State. She loved both the mountains and the ocean and often would take short trips to see both with her children or grandchildren. Phyllis was always laughing or telling stories and jokes.
She was proud of her Cahuilla heritage and taught her children and grandchildren to love and respect nature and all kinds of people. Phyllis accomplished her long held desire of seeing Laura Ingalls’ home in southern Missouri where the Little House books were written before the pandemic made travel impossible for her. Phyllis chose to be cremated and her ashes will be spread in a private family ceremony to be held at a later date.
Condolences can be left at Greenlawn Funeral home in Bakersfield, Ca.
She is survived by her husband John Mountain, three adult daughters: Caroly Perez of Kansas City, MO, Sarah King of Bakersfield and Sharon Schultz of Warrensburg, MO; her two sisters Kelly Fernando of Escondido and Jonna Funk of Bakersfield and five grandchildren Shaun, Angelina, Isabella, Gabriel and Abigail. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and counted her among their friends. She passed away at her home and on into the hereafter on December 27, 2021. She was 58.
