Phyllis Katherine Hilts, 86, passed peacefully in her sleep on October 22nd, 2023 at Summerset Senior Living in Rancho Cordova, California. She was an inspiration for bringing “Will and Fight” to her battle with cancer.

Phyllis lived on Barnes Lake in Columbiaville Michigan for many years before relocating to California, to be near family and live her golden years in a warmer climate.

Born January 19th, 1937 to Bessie and Fred Oxyer in Beards Fork West Virginia, Phyllis lived a vibrant life from beginning to end and touched the lives of many people along the way.

Phyllis built a successful career with the Walmart Corporation but her true passion was helping others.  Phyllis was a caregiver assisting the sick and elderly and volunteered weekly at the Rancho Cordova Food Locker serving the community by feeding the hungry.

Phyllis was a long-time active member of the Rancho Cordova Moose Lodge.  Her social time was enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and rummikub.  She was a competitive bowler, awarded many trophies for her league play.

Phyllis is survived by her only son Dan (Lucky) Oxyer of Naples FL, her brother Ron Oxyer (Friend Pat) of Rancho Cordova CA and two sisters, Becky (Paul) Urchick of North Branch MI and Sue (Dave) Brady of Lapeer MI.  In memory of those passed before: her parents, her husband Dean, her brothers Maynard Lee, Alex, and Jerry, and sister-in-law Wanda  

Honoring Phyllis’s wishes for cremation, there will be no showing, the family will be scheduling a memorial at a later date in both Michigan and California to celebrate Phyllis’s life.
