Phyllis Bush Dowdy of Chesterfield Virginia, passed away peacefully in the presence of her husband and family members on June 8, 2025, Pentecost Sunday. Preceded in death by her parents Bob and Inez Bush, she is survived by her loving husband Donald W. Dowdy, her siblings Diane B. Gittin (Larry), Robert A. Bush (Patricia), Barbi B. Partlow (Stephen), and Jacki B. Thompson (Randy) along with her dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.Phyllis got a later start with higher education, but she proudly graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Psychology. She was an animal lover and enjoyed the company of her cats and was an advocate for the spaying and neutering of feral cats. Many times, over the years she rescued felines on her property that were feral. Before physical limitations and the diminishing of her eyesight interfered, one of her talents was the ability to draw and paint, an attribute inherited from her mother. She also had a talent for cooking and baking. Phyllis learned to swim as an adult and even became a Certified Scuba Diver, to be able to see interesting marine life up close and personal. She loved observing nature, whether it was at the beach, in the mountains, watching and listening to birds in a wooded setting, or just viewing a National Geographic nature program on television.Phyllis will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
