Phyllis Mary (Caron) Fredette was born April 3, 1939.
She was the beautiful daughter of Pearl and Edmond Caron. She was one of eleven brothers and sisters who grew up in Manchester, NH.
In February 1956, she met the love of her life, Albert Horace Reme Fredette II, through his sister (Jacqueline (Fredette) Dube), and on July 2, 1956, they professed their love to each other in front of God and their families as they joined hands in marriage.
In May 1957, they welcomed a beautiful baby boy, but God must have needed an angel as he took their young son in April 1958, exactly eleven months from his birth. After losing their son, their lives were filled with sadness until nearly 2 years later when they welcomed the first of their five daughters and completed their family with another baby boy in December 1971.
Mom’s love for her family was undeniable. She poured her heart and soul into her family and the love of her life. She attended every recital, enrolled her girls in 4-H, and spent hours cooking and canning for the family. Some of our fondest memories of mom are coming home from school and finding mom had made taffy that needed pulling, walking into a home smelling of freshly baked bread, pies, cakes, or cookies, and the smell of dinner cooking on the stove.
She taught us how to be independent and how to live off the land, and she had the perfect partner to help teach us the ways of life. Not one of us would trade any part of our upbringing given the love received from this remarkable woman. She was a master of quilting and enjoyed making baby quilts for the new arrivals. As the house started to empty, it wasn’t long before grandchildren brought back the pitter-patter of little feet in the house again. Eventually, the house became too much for them to handle alone and they decided to buy a smaller home in Weare, NH. The grandchildren began blessing their lives with great-grandchildren and the cycle of life continued.
Mom enjoyed every holiday and the love for the holidays only intensified with the grandchildren. Halloween was always a joyful experience as we decorated and became characters of the haunts. The town of Weare even created a special award, as she won the contest for best decorated with COVID restrictions in 2019. Easters turned into adventures as the little ones searched for their Easter baskets and eggs. Christmases will always be treasures forever engrained in our memories. She was our Mrs. Clause to our Santa. Again, winning two years in a row for the best-decorated home in Litchfield, NH. Her greatest love of the holidays was the joy of bringing her family together, and our joy was seeing the smiles shine so brightly on her face. These are the moments we will never forget. Of
Mom loved to take joyrides to the beach, the mountains, or just a ride around town, even though she would fall asleep along the way. Dad wouldn’t care because he knew it always made her smile. Some of Mom’s greatest artistries were visible in the beautiful gardens and landscaping she displayed. She would spend hours weeding her garden, spending time with the flowers, bringing out the beauty they offered the world. Everyone who met her could not help but love her. She touched many lives and many hearts.
Ultimately, her greatest love outside of her children was the love of her life, Albert (Sonny). If one was nearby, the other was not far behind. They were true soulmates. Both working the land together, spending every moment possible together as one. From tilling the fields, mom on the tractor, dad on the harrow, from planting gardens to harvesting, from mowing fields to being the popcorn lady and the tractor driver for Carriage Shack Farm, to just holding each other’s hand under the stars. They were always one, and although she has passed over, she is not, nor ever will be, forgotten. If you ever want to know what their love was like, Vince Gill’s song, Look at Us says it all. “When they want to see how true love should be, they’ll just look at us“.
Sadly, Phyllis Mary (Caron) Fredette left our world on January 20th, 2023 and although she may not be here in person, she is always here, always around us, in our hearts, in our minds, and in our dreams. She off building our castle in the sky, running with the angels, with her baby boy in her arms, and will welcome each of us with open arms and a loving smile when we make our journey to her world.
