Phyllis's obituary

Phyllis Todd

Phyllis Todd, aged 88, died on August 4, 2020 at the Windsor Estates in St. Charles, Missouri. She was born August 4, 1932 in St. Louis, to William Luraschi and Precious Luraschi (nee Peters). Phyllis was originally raised in Webster Groves and later grew up on a farm, where she learned to ride horses. She attended Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, graduating in 1950. She went to nursing school and worked at Jewish Hospital, as the Assistant Head Nurse of the Recovery Room and later as their first Tumor Registrar, after completing her degree in Library Science by attending night classes at Washington University. She was married to the late William Howard Todd, with whom she had two sons, Christopher and Daniel, who survive her. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Nicki, James and Bethany, and her great-granddaughter Zoe. Her body was cremated and funeral plans are on hold pending the control of the Covid-19 pandemic which took her life.

Phyllis was a fiercely intelligent and intensely curious woman, who read voraciously and expressed her artistic side in painting, chip carving, jewelry making, cake decorating, cooking, writing, and gardening, among other hobbies. She loved animals, plants, the Japanese culture and language, hiking, and camping and she traveled to every one of the contiguous United States. She was a long-time member of the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Phyllis will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
