Phil's obituary

Phillip Kevin “Phil” Smith, 67, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026. Born on September 2, 1958, in Forsyth County, Phil spent most of his life in and around North Carolina, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and community.

Phil was a talented graphics artist and beloved screen printer whose work was admired by many. He took great pride in his craft, and those who knew him appreciated not only his skill, but the heart he put into everything he created.

Above all, Phil was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving daughter, Wendy Lawson, and her husband, Cory Lawson, as well as his cherished granddaughter, Kaleigha Lawson. He is also survived by his parents, Rebecca Smith and W.D. Smith. Phil was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Smith, who passed away in 2024.

While Phil loved his family deeply, nothing compared to his unwavering devotion to the Lord. His faith was the cornerstone of his life. He had a passion for sharing the Word of God and the love of Jesus Christ with everyone he encountered. His kindness, gentle spirit, and steadfast belief touched countless lives and will continue to be felt for years to come.

A visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of King on Kirby Road on April 25th beginning at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m.

Phil’s legacy is one of love, faith, and service. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of his Savior.
