It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Phillip Wayne Kenney, who left this world on February 22, 2024. He was a beloved father, brother, and friend, whose light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on April 17, 1957, Phillip lived a full and joyous life, sharing his love for life, laughter, and family with every person he met. A personality that was often described as funny, the life of the party, and friendly, Phillip's absence from this world will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

Phillip is survived by his son, Travis Kenney; step-daughter, April (Lee) Brown; brother, Stewart Kenney; sister, Suzanne (Gary) Lewis; and his ex-wife, Suzanne Beckett, as well as several nieces and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother, Ophelia Kenney; father, Kenneth H. Kenney; and brother, Kenneth Kenney. Each of them holds a special place in the tapestry of Phillip's life, a testament to the profound bonds of family and friendship.

Phillip graduated from Tates Creek High School in 1975. While attending Tates Creek, he played football. Phillip went on to strive at 4th Street Tobacco for many years and later operated his own successful business, Lexington Deck Protectors. He cherished simple pleasures, finding joy in fishing, boating, grilling out, watching sports, attending annual Derby parties, and poker runs on the water.

One of his favorite vacation spots was Lake Okeechobee, where he enjoyed the serene atmosphere, picturesque views, and catching many fish. Phillip also loved gathering at the Kentucky River with friends and family, where over many years, treasured moments were created.

Phillip leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. His jovial nature and warm heart touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark of love and compassion. His unyielding dedication to the happiness and well-being of those around him will not be forgotten.

Phillip will be truly missed by his family and long-time friends. His memory will continue to live on, symbolizing a life well-lived, full of joy, laughter, and love. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
