Phillip's obituary

Phillip "Red" Cox, 87, of Chowchilla, CA, passed away on September 02, 2023.

Phillip was born on September 23, 1935, to Henry and Bertha Cox in Afton, OK. After graduating from high school in 1952, he went on to enter the military, where he met his wife Brenda and to go on to have 4 children.

In 1960, he met Brenda Kay Sheppard, and they wed later that year, going on to have 4 children, Nina Regina, Dale Edward, Janet Dee and Gregory Stewart Cox.

Phillip was a cowboy all the way, that is how I saw my daddy.

  • His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud and always tried his best to support them.

Phillip was also a passionate sports fan and could often be found watching a game or listening to baseball on the radio.  Anyone who knew Phillip knew that he was a loving father and loved spending time with his kids and fishing whenever possible.  He is survived by his 4 kids, Regina McIntyre & spouse Rick, Dale Cox & spouse Tanya, Janet Bier & spouse Kenneth and son Greg Cox, his 8 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.

The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to 549 Parkridge Drive, Chowchilla, CA 93610. There will be a memorial service and then a celebration of life starting on October 13, 2023, 11:30 am.

Memorial and honors service will begin at 11:30 am at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Road, Santa Nella, CA 95322

Celebration of Life to follow at 2:30 pm at 549 Parkridge Drive, Chowchilla, CA 93610.

All family and friends are invited.
