Phillip's obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Phillip Cervantes, a beloved father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born on June 29, 1949, Phillip lived a life full of love, laughter, and resilience. Sadly after long battle with cancer, his life was cut short and he left us on May 28, 2025.
Phillip leaves behind a loving family who will greatly miss his humor and stubborn, yet endearing, nature. He is survived by his devoted wife, Demetria (Marcy) Cervantes, whom he wed in 1972, and their daughters Krista Cervantes and Katrina Kluchesky; his son-in-law, Thomas Kluchesky; as well as his granddaughters Nevaeha Ramirez and Faith Hansen, and his grandsons Nathaniel Hansen and Noah Kluchesky. He also leaves behind his sisters Eloise Cervantes, Jane Rictor, Phyllis Rivera, Elaine Wildes and nieces and nephews. Phillip was predeceased by his father, Manuel Cervantes, his mother, Maria Hurtado-Cervantes, his brothers, John Hurtado, Jessie Hurtado and Angel Hurtado, and sister, Judy Hurtado.
An avid reader, Phillip could often be found reading a book on his Kindle. He loved watching anything related to ocean big fishing or survival type shows in the wilderness and was a fan of old westerns, hallmark movies, and of course, the Green Bay Packers. He found his peace in his younger years while fishing, hunting, or simply being in the wilderness, and later in life one of his favorite places to visit was Tomahawk.
One of Phillip's proudest accomplishments was serving as a marksmen in the Vietnam War as part of the Army Screaming Eagles 101st airborne where he received a bronze star among many other awards. After his service, he continued to support his fellow veterans by participating in the American Legion Post 405 in Dousman.
Despite his passing, his spirit will live on in his family's heart, A big Thank You to the Staff of The Vince Lombardi Cancer Center and to all the Staff at The Clement-Zablocki VA hospital in Milwaukee as well as the Oconomowoc VA center for all their care for the past 25 years of his life.
