Phil's obituary
We mournfully announce the passing of Phillip Bolyard Sr., lovingly known as Happy but preferred to be called Phil. He was born on April 7, 1952, and peacefully departed this life on September 9, 2025.
Phillip leaves behind his devoted wife, DeNette Bolyard, his very much loved Puppy Dog, Ace and their treasured children, Carol Furstenau (Chad), Melissa Overton (Kent) and Phillip Bolyard II (Kami). Phillip also leaves a lasting legacy through his grandchildren: Cameron Bolyard, Dylan Overton, Connor Overton, and Drake Rusk and Phillip Bolyard III.
Phillip was versatile in his taste, his favorite food being anything that was cooked with love, paired often with his favored Natural Light beverage. He was a fervent supporter of the University of Michigan football team, the Lions, and Tigers. A sociable and spirited man, he relished in being the “Corn Hole King” and playing many different card games.
Phillip loved to stay active through golfing, which served not only as his favorite recreational activity but also his favored mode of exercise. He was fond of any vacation that involved a cruise ship, reflecting his adventurous spirit. His favorite color was green, mirroring his lively and jovial personality.
Phillip had a great 30 year career at Ford Motor Company, which he retired from, and then continuing to managing Washtenaw Recycling for another 8 years.
Phillip was a loving family man who cherished those he held dear. His personality was radiant, always cheerful, easy-going, and chatty. He had a knack for making those around him feel loved and appreciated. In his lifetime, Phillip achieved many things, but nothing made him prouder than his family. One of his notable achievements includes making two holes-in-one on the golf course, one in Florida and the other at Whispering Pines Golf Course in Pinckney, MI.
In these moments of loss and sadness, let us remember Phillip for his cheerful spirit and the joyful moments spent with him. His love and happiness will carry on in the hearts of his family and all those who knew him.
Please share your fondest moments with us for everyone to cherish.
