Philip's obituary
In Loving Memory of
Philip Alexander Marinelli
November 24, 1969 – February 4, 2023
Philip Alexander Marinelli was born on November 24, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away on February 4, 2023.
He was the son of Luciano Marinelli (1937–2023) and Patsy (Rose) Metchevsky of Harlem.
Philip was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent much of his life in service through his work with the United States government. He believed strongly in responsibility, discipline, and providing for his family. Known for his stern nature and steady presence, he carried himself with conviction and a deep sense of duty toward those he loved.
He is survived by his son, Nikolai Pokrovsky of Savannah, Georgia, and his daughter, Alaina Rose Marinelli of Manhattan, a registered nurse serving at a prestigious hospital in New York City.
Philip was especially protective of his daughter and took great pride in the woman she became. Her dedication to caring for others reflected the values he held throughout his life.
He loved his children deeply. His relationship with his son Nikolai was shaped by challenges and distance after Nikolai entered foster care at a young age. Though often tough in his approach, his love remained constant. In time, the strain between them became one of his deepest regrets — something he carried quietly.
Like many, Philip was shaped by life’s hardships and did the best he could with what he knew.
He will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to his family, and the enduring love that lived beneath his imperfections.
May he be remembered with understanding, honored with pride, and finally rest in peace.
