Phil was a true original. Creative, thoughtful, and always ready for a good discussion. He will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. Philip, everyone you left in this world is sad that you are gone, but we are grateful that you are no longer suffering. We will always love and miss you, until we can meet again.

Phil was a jack-of-all-trades. He worked notably as a software engineer for Seitech, a General Manager for U-Haul, a manager at JCPennys, and a maintenance worker for Lost Creek Ranch in Wyoming. He enjoyed telling and writing stories. Phil authored a science-fiction novel. Phil was a talented musician and sound engineer. He played drums for several area bands and wrote and recorded original music throughout his entire life. He volunteered as a sound engineer and recorded music for orchestras in both Iowa and Illinois. He enjoyed painting naturescapes, sculpting and woodworking. Phil loved the outdoors and gardening. When his kids were younger he would garden with them and they would sell produce at various Farmers Markets around Eastern Iowa.

Phil is survived by his father Jerry Gibson, his brother and sister-in-law Matt & Andria Gibson, his daughter and son-in-law Ashley & Keegan Doremus, his two sons Kurtis Gibson and Adam Gibson, six grandchildren and two nieces.

Phil was preceded in death by his mother Diane Gibson and his brother David Gibson.
