Philip's obituary
Phil Christian August 28, 1936 – August 13, 2022
Phil Christian passed peacefully on the evening of August 13, 2022 at Abernathy Laurels in Newton, NC. He was born August 28, 1936 in Cedar Bluff, VA and lived a life in which he focused on treasuring every day. Left to cherish the memory of this kind and generous man are his loving children: son, Michael Christian and his wife Rachel; daughter, Pamela Christian; along with many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, as well as his heart and soul - wife, Kay.
Phil loved life and lived it to the fullest – especially with Kay. They loved to travel and visited most of the states together. They also enjoyed taking cruises, which allowed them to visit new and exciting places, always making friends along the way. He also had a strong belief in God and turned all his worries over to God and accepted each day as a gift.
Phil was a very loving husband, father, brother, son and friend. His wonderful, joy-filled laugh will echo in our minds and hearts. And his sweet spirit will always remind us there are always kind and gentle souls in this world who would do anything for anyone. From paying a car repair bill for someone who couldn’t afford it, giving his son his first guitar and guitar lessons (in which he now runs his own music company), to offering to drive 6-hours to be there for his daughter when her vehicle broke down in another state. His heart was huge and will never be replaced.
In one final selfless gift, Phil will be donating his body to the Wake Forest School of Medicine. A private family military service will be held at a later date. Phil visited and donated to the Goathouse Rescue in Pittsboro, NC. Since there will not be a public service, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to this charity (https://www.goathouserefuge.o…) – or your favorite – in honor of him.
His family will be forever grateful for the time we were blessed to have him, and for the friends who have been so very kind in their support and prayers.
