Obituary for Philip Neri Butler
With heavy hearts and boundless love, we announce the passing of Philip Neri Butler of Holly Springs, NC, who left us on June 17, 2024, at the age of 39.
Born on September 16, 1984, in Fairfax, VA, to John and Robyn Butler, Philip grew up in Stafford, VA. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University, earning dual degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics in 2008. In 2003, Philip started dating the love of his life, Korey Marie Butler, in Stafford, VA. Their love story blossomed into marriage on March 19, 2011, and they built an enduring and faith abundant life together filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories. Philip's unwavering dedication and love for his family were truly unparalleled.
Philip is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years, Korey, and their two precious children, Helana Butler and Philip Butler Jr. He also leaves behind his brothers, Peter Butler (Alicia) of Chesterfield, VA, and Thomas Butler of Mechanicsville, VA; his sister, Catherine Maestre (John) of Stafford, VA; and his mother, Robyn Spring (James) of Callao, VA. And seven nieces and nephews. Philip will be fondly remembered by a host of close relatives, including cousins, aunts, uncles, as well as countless friends and colleagues. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Luther Bryan Butler Jr. (Mary Belle Davis), his maternal grandparents, Robert Earl Crispin (Carol), his father, John William Butler, his brother, Richard James Butler and his nephew, John Maestre Jr.
Philip's passion for building, his love of nature and his commitment to a healthy lifestyle were hallmarks of his character. He found joy in being outdoors, visiting beaches, fishing, running, reading and continually learning. His deep bold voice, positivity, and willingness to help anyone in need were legendary. Philip's immense kindness, sense of humor, and patience brought people together and reminded them they were never alone.
In his 16-year career at Wolfspeed as a Senior Manager, Test Engineer, Philip was respected and admired for his dedication, expertise, and leadership. His contributions led to multiple promotions and left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the organization.
A Celebration of Life for Philip will be held on July 13, 2024, at 11 am at Oasis Church, 1828 Ralph Stephens Rd, Holly Springs, NC 27540. Family, colleagues, and friends are invited to attend and share their memories of Philip. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Comfort Zone Camp, in Philip's honor. Comfort Zone Camp is a bereavement organization that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, primary caregiver, or significant person. The Butler family has volunteered with this organization for over 20 years.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our community, church, friends, and family for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time. Philip's warmth, wisdom, positivity, big smile, and love will forever remain in our hearts. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
