Petronila Mercedes Castillo, age 89, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025. She was born on January 15, 1936, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, and lived a long life guided by faith, family, and tradition.

Petronila was a devoted Catholic whose unwavering faith sustained her throughout her life. She was known for her warmth, her gentle spirit, and her ability to keep her family and community united. She was a woman of resilience and quiet strength, embodying values of humility, compassion, and service to others.

She is survived by her loving husband of many decades, Don Rafael Castillo, age 91, who stood faithfully by her side through life’s joys and challenges. Petronila is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Pauline Cáceres, whom she now joins in eternal rest.

Petronila’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her faith and love. She will be deeply missed by family and friends who cherished her presence and wisdom.

A private, invitation-only Mass and service to honor Petronila’s life will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 6:00 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 21505 Augusta Ave, Port Charlotte, FL 33952, with her closest family and friends in attendance.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she rests now in God’s eternal embrace.
