Petra's obituary
Beloved wife of Jaime R. Yenque. Cherished mother of Gloria Montes and Laura Suarez. Loving Grandmother of Brandon, Samantha, Christian, Isabella, Ashley, Maria & Victor Jr.
Petra is also survived by many other relatives and friends throughout Santa Cruz de Bárcenas, Ahualulco de Mercado, Mexico, Los Angeles, CA, and New York City.
Petra Aguayo Montes was born April 12, 1947, in Santa Cruz de Bárcenas, Ahualulco de Mercado, Jalisco, Mexico. She was raised with her mother, Lucila Montes Guevara, and father, Baudelio Aguayo Perez. Her siblings included Marina Aguayo M, Bartola Aguayo M, Ramon Aguayo M, Niche Aguayo M, Alejandro Aguayo M, and Guillermo Aguayo M. Unfortunately, many of her siblings passed on, and only one remains as of 2024.
They lived a very adventurous life in Mexico, especially coming from a poor background, which led to their father’s death and siblings dying due to lack of medical treatment. However, some decided to migrate to Los Angeles looking for a hopeful and better life, but it didn’t work out so well for her siblings due to a lack of education and not having the right resources to help them in the United States.
In 1969, Petra decided to travel alone from Mexico to Los Angeles due to the poverty the family was experiencing. Unfortunately, her travel made her experience the unexpected abuse but as strong and determined she survived the journey, and in 1970 she end up conceiving her first born then 1971 her second.
While living in Los Angeles, in the 70's Petra accomplished her certification for Cosmetology then she met someone that fell head over heels for her and offered to give her a better living. He then offered her to move to New York City with her daughters.
The life and promises that were offered were all just a figment of her imagination because the moment she arrived in New York City it wasn’t the life she expected, and the treatments from people were indescribable. She did marry but once again this life is not what is expected and wanted for her kids, but she held on until the end.
Unfortunate there is more to the story, but everyone will know that my mother Petra Aguayo Montes was the most kindhearted person you have ever known and many envied and didn’t know how to handle a person like her.
While living in the United States she lost all contacts with her family in Jalisco, Mexico. In many occasions her youngest daughter, Laura has tried to locate them but never succeed, and now that she passed away her youngest brother Alejandro made his business to find her but instead he found us because I created this page to honor her death.
My mother was a person full of life she never drunk, nor did she smoke and hated taking any sort of medications, but she still ends up getting Stage 4 Lung Cancer a tumor as big as a football developed on her spine and emergency surgery was required n it snapped her spine living her paralyzed giving her only 5 months to live. It’s a sad story but everyone will know my mother’s story.
