Carrie and friends, one year ago I could not get the words out to let you know what a beautiful and perfect send off you gave Petr. 

Petr is still talked about with fondness in the QuIHN offices. He left quite a lovely mark on people and I am grateful to have known him. 

Peter was a true gentleman, such a great personality to be around and an asset to any river trip he was on. I will always think of Pete with great fondness. 

Some 2 years ago I turned up at the Tully river with a new 2nd hand kayak having never kayaked white water before but keen to try. A group of 20 kayakers encouraged us to go with them on the “Croc run” which is the tamest section of the Tully.  Pete was there,  running safety and taking photos. His ever present smile and ease on the water was reassuring and encouraging. This champion kayaker was doing the easiest run on the Tully to help and encourage others like me to learn.  And he was so modest, I didn’t even know how good he was, until much later.  He had the respect and admiration of all the young, gun kayakers.

Today 31.03.2023, I read that Petr died in Jan 2023. I knew Petr as a Psychologist. He was warm & gentle in his manners, insightful in his understanding of the human condition, and practical in his approach to working with clients.

With every intention to visit Petr and Carrie, at his frequent invites, I did not. Beautiful memories of Petr will live on in my mind.

I am unbelievably saddened by the passing of Petr. He was a man with a heart of gold and a zest for life. I am grateful for his generosity of knowledge and spirit. Petr will be missed by so many.
