On Monday evening, Peter A. Smith, 61, of Glenmoore, passed peacefully while surrounded by his close family after a 5 year battle with colon cancer. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gincley-Smith; daughter Chelsea, West Chester, and son Tyler (Alexandra), Downingtown; and siblings: Richard Smith (Prema), Ann Arbor, MI; Susan Smith, Elverson; Betsy Mendenhall, East Fallowfield; Diane Umile (Tom), West Brandywine. He was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas “Reese,” and Chris; and his parents, Dr. Richard H. and Doris Smith. Pete enjoyed spending time with his family, music, cooking and tending to his garden. He played his guitar at every opportunity. He had his final performance with long time band, Sliding Delta Blues Band, in March. He also joined in many open mics and jams at local venues. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and guitar player. Pete was truly an angel among us and will be missed tremendously.
