Happy birthday to our talented brother, Pete Smith on guitar, who left this plane later that year (2019). Also featuring Tom Umile on guitar, harmonica and vocals, and our gifted brother Richard Smith on bass, and yours truly on piano. This is the most recent video we have of our amazing brothers. Pete's Heartstrings was created in memory of Pete. Pete's Heartstrings - West PA currently has a trumpet, a clarinet, a flute, a guitar, a 1/4 size guitar, and two guitar cases available. Message us on Facebook if you are in need or if you have an instrument to donate (no pianos or organs, please).

Five years ago, in memory of Pete, I started Pete's Heartstrings,  an organization which receives donations of musical instruments and provides them to folks in need. In 2023, we moved to western PA and started another chapter of Heartstrings there. If you're interested in donating or receiving an instrument,  please visit https://www.brandywinemusic.com/pete-s-heartstrings  ❤️🎸🎹
It's hard to believe that it's been five years. Miss you so much, Pete. Here's a fond memory of that last year. Terrible videography (by me 😅) but the jam was fun. Pete Smith, Richard Smith, Tom Umile, and myself, spring 2019. More videos on our Youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/@dian…

Pete reminded me to fall in love with the pure joy of making music. He put his trust in the Lord so I know we will jam in Heaven . We never know the day . Acts 4: 12- " Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
In response to "What did you learn from Peter?"
Ahh Pete is a great soul. I know his trust was in the Lord so we will jam in Heaven one day! We neber know the hour.

I miss Pete's smile and his uncanny ability to play anything with stings and then some ! PS 34:18
Can’t believe it’s been two years ! Maybe I’ll get to hear him play “Freeway Jam “ in Heaven . 1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree , that we might die to sin and live to righteousness…”
I miss Pete’s gentle spirit and pure love of music ! Col 1:17
I miss Pete and his laid back way and passion for music!

Hey, Pete. I wanted to say something at your life celebration yesterday, but that didn’t happen.

We came together to remember and celebrate the life of our brother and friend, Pete. I’d like to share a little about what you meant to me. You were a great brother to me growing up. We played classical violin and piano together as kids. Two years apart in age and one year apart in school, we shared friends and fun times. You were my closest sibling and first jammin’ buddy. As a teen I learned how to jam when your friend Charles taught me chords. We played in a rock band in high school, a band with no name that went nowhere but was great experience. After I met Tom, we all, with Charles and others, played as The Mild West Show and The Earthlings at Turk’s Head Festival and elsewhere. Sometimes Cricket joined in on drums. Playing with you was an inspiration. Over the years our holiday family jams with Richard made for great memories.

Creator Spirit of the Universe, we thank You for giving us Pete. We are grateful for his humor, his kindness, and especially his sharing the magic of music with so many. We ask that you surround Pete, and all of us, with your loving Spirit, that you hold him in your peaceful Realm with loved ones gone on before, and that you fill us with your Love that we may continue in this plane to live up to Pete’s legacy and spread the magic of music and love to all we meet.
Pete, you are loved by so many, and you will never be forgotten. The shell of your physical existence may be gone, but your Soul lives on in the place that knows no pain nor tears. Keep on jammin’, bro... you made it to the Great Gig in the Sky.
Peter was my brother-in-law. He always was welcoming and accepting of me in his kind, quiet way. Peter shared how proud he was of his family, love for the blues and down -to-home gardening. I will miss him and I know how fortunate I have been to a small part of the Smith family.
He was my best friend for many years. I am so sad to hear this news. I have so many wonderful memories of Peter. He was a great person. My sincere condolences to his whole family.

Dear Barb, Chelsea,Tyler, and the Smith family: My heart is heavy for your great loss. Pete bravely fought a long, difficult battle. Although he may have lost the physical battle, he won a place of ultimate peace devoid of pain with our Father in Heaven. I pray you will find consolation in knowing this.
I remember moving to Downingtown and meeting all the Smith family and hanging out at the residence. My deepest sympathy to you all

Oh , Betsy, you have had so much heartache in this area. I feel your loss. I lost a brother, but I cannot imagine how it would feel to lose three. Know that we will keep you in prayer and we are thinking of you. I keep a personal prayer book on my nightstand, and I will pray for you and your family .

He sounds like he was a wonderful man. sunny and Jim
