I really only knew Peter the last couple of months of his life, but I surely learned a lot.

He had experience helping at-risk/special needs kids (thus the picture of him and his pal, Hoover) - and in the brief time that I knew him, had the guts and the love to ask me the hard questions that you need to ask when you are a mentor.  I learned more about mentoring from him, his experiences and the questions, that made me really think about just what a mentor can and can't do.

So yeah, he was mentoring me on how to be a mentor - 2 days before he died.

The man was a class act.  I only wish I'd known him earlier.

I miss him sorely.
