Peter Quang-Long Nguyễn, 29, passed away on March 21, 2026, in the waters off Magic Island, just three days before what would have been his 30th birthday.

Peter was born on March 24, 1996, at Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women & Children and was a lifelong resident of Honolulu. He graduated from Moanalua High School in 2014, where he was an avid breakdancer and musician. He played trumpet in the school’s marching band and symphonic wind ensemble, and was also a member of the Hawaiʻi Youth Symphony. A lifelong lover of music, Peter also played piano and regularly attended Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra concerts. Peter continued his education at Kapiʻolani Community College, where he earned an Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts in 2015, and later graduated magna cum laude from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art. Most recently, he worked in accounting at Armstrong Produce and regularly volunteered at food drives at St. Elizabeth Church in ʻAiea and St. Philomena Church in Salt Lake.

Peter is survived by his parents, Hiệp Quang Nguyễn and Minh-Tú Đoàn, and his older brother, Martin Minh Quang Nguyễn. He is also survived by his grandparents, Nguyễn Thịnh and Nguyễn Thị Đào; his aunts, Liễu, Thảo, Quỳnh, Hương (Lạc), and Vân; his uncles, Hiền (An), Dũng, Tuấn, and Toàn (Tuyết); and his cousins Ryan, Randy, Steven, Eric, Alexander, Eddi, Robert, Nathalie, Kim, Phong, and Tâm.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow. Burial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, Roman Catholic Area 14, Stations of the Cross, Station 11.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate if you consider donating to Peter’s Memorial Fund. The family hopes to be able to use these funds to cover funeral and burial costs, as well as donating a bench in Peter's memory at Magic Island.
