Peter was my Dad's second cousin who he never knew.  We found each other through Ancestry. I just saw this and am so sorry for your loss.

2017, SMPS National Board meeting
The SMPS Foundation had one major obstacle in conducting its mission to deliver research and marketing intelligence to inspire success and improve bottom line results -- money. Foundation members did little fundraisers like selling tickets for prize drawings. The fundraising never amounted to much and SMPS National did not provide any funding. We were discussing this situation at a National board meeting and Peter looked around and said I proposed we provide $50,000 each year to the Foundation for this mission. A second was made shortly after that and then we had discussion. The feeling was we created the Foundation and never provided the needed funding for its mission. A vote was taken and the motion passed. That was the start of real funding for the Foundation to fund research within the 6 domains of practice. It would give members and their firms the information to make good decisions. I give Peter full credit for raising the issue at the right time and getting the board members to understand how important this was for the society, our members and the firms they worked for.
Peter was such a good friend to so many of us and fought for his life so courageously. When facing the challenges of a difficult schedule at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Peter expanded the assigned clinical trial diary to capture additional information that he thought would be helpful to others. As a result, he said he was given the nickname of "Chart Man" by some at Dana Farber. Peter was always giving and this was one more demonstration of his concern for others. Yin and I will miss him so much.

My heart goes out to you, Vicki, and the family. I’m so sorry at your loss.

Having spent time with Peter and you at the Richardson cousins reunion last year, it immediately struck me how kind and thoughtful a person Peter was...and down to earth. He was truly interested in listening to the stories and experiences people had to share. It was a real pleasure meeting Peter.

So sorry for your loss. I served on several national SMPS committees with Peter and enjoyed working with him. He was very professional and I always saw him with a smile. I recall our last meeting - at Southeast Regional Conference in Asheville. What a great smile and positive attitude. RIP.
