Background
Peter's family members and friends have a long history of nonprofit management, advocacy, public health intervention and law. In honor of Peter, we are in the process of creating a bi-partisan foundation that will be leveraged to: 1) create an active consortium of existing and relevant community organizations in the greater Western Albemarle area, 2) increase mental health support access inside and outside of schools, 3) enhance safety measures within schools and in densely populated public settings, 4) provide education and training on gun safety laws, and 5) fund education for new local mental health professionals. While the mission may evolve based on budget and priorities, the overarching goal will remain the same- to prioritize the safety of our suffering and vulnerable community while creating a replicable model that could be leveraged to improve community safety and wellness across the country. We believe strongly that through strong community-based activism and sustained support, change is possible from the ground up. All funds will be used to support our mission, and our goal will be to continually expand our budget through continued fundraising, grant writing and partnerships.
