Peter, “ muscle” was my younger brother’s best friend @ Alhambra and his older brother Michael is still my best friend. He was intelligent, funny, loyal and a great person. Sorry to his family who lost a great man and friend.

I loved Peter. I was saddened when I heard of his passing😢 Sometimes the good ones are taken way too soon. I spent a summer break with him and the Holly boys. Such fun!! And good memories😊

Peter had a long list of wonderful characteristics…funny, very kind, a loyal friend, honest,  just to name a few..

This probably won’t be read by anyone since time has passed, but he was one of the good ones.

I was known as Debbie Mulcahy at that time♥️

Our sincerest condolences to Pam, Lucy, and the rest of the Bartlett family. Wishing you strength and peace as you work to heal from this loss, and smiles as you remember Peter, his infectious smile, and the joyful times you shared.  Sending love and hugs to all of you.

This is not a story, but an Ode I've written to Peter Bartlett and want to share:

A FAVORITE COAT

I met you 40 years ago,

When life was more carefree.

We lived and worked together,

While earning a degree.

Graduation was a huge relief;

It was time to PLAY!

We spent the summer days that year,

Sailing on the bay.

Those sweet months forged a lifetime bond,

Feeling like a favorite coat.

We were brothers and best friends,

And that was all she wrote!

Decades passed so swiftly,

With families and careers.

We stayed in touch, and shared so much,

The coat would last for years.

You left behind a vast array

Of people who love you;

We'll think of you so fondly,

And bid you sweet "Adieu".

Uncertain if you can know this,

Somehow I think you can;

I'll wear the coat forever,

No matter where I am!

Rest in peace dear Bartlett.  I love you.

From Steiger.

I have loved having Peter as part of our family. When he and Pam started dating I saw right away that they just worked. His young soul met her old one right in the middle! I am so grateful they found each other and shared such a happy life together. Right from the beginning I loved watching Peter with his kids. I aspired to be a parent who could be as thoughtful,  involved, and loving as him. Making a slideshow of his life really reinforced how much joy he found in being with his kids. It also shows how important his family, friends, and the beach are to him. I think Peter was happiest surrounded by his loved ones enjoying nature somewhere (also chatting up strangers who happen by). That is how I will always think of him. I love you, Peter.

His love for the beach is so …

His love for the beach is so apparent. It was quite a memorable walk yet so simple. Miss your easy conversations
I was a student at Ponderosa high when Peter started teaching there. I had little to give to the world, and little hope for myself. Along side with his friend and coworker, Bob Cavallo,  Peter saved my life, and gave me hope. He endured the trials and tribulations of Ponderosa's hardest students, he impacted many lives, and in the end, he (and that formentioned Bob guy) saved me. Peter believed that each of us had the potential to take on the world and be somebody. I listened, I learned, and I believed in what he was saying. Thank you Peter. For your patience, for your commitment to your students, and for believing in me. I will never forget you. I will see you again someday, my friend.

Peter was an incredible person. Kind, generous, considerate, thoughtful and compassionate.

He was also so talented in so many ways. He made me the fish stained glass for my 25th birthday and I cherish it so much as it reminds me of my youth and living a very easy life with a beautiful person. We went our separate ways but there was not a kinder man that I met in my future that had all the qualities wrapped into one individual.

He had the best laugh and smile and attracted so many friends in his life. I always told him he should run for some office as he would had been elected.

I’m so happy to have had Peter in my life as I believe his kindness rubbed off on me.

Your at peace but never forgotten and will always be in my heart.

There are numerous stories to tell as we gather in the years ahead. Some you’ve heard many times and… some you have not.

High School, Diablo Valley College, Chico State, Spring and Summer Breaks, a trip to Baja, Bay area music, camping and hiking, skiing, just to name a few of the adventure places and themes.

Love, Lana

From Tim:

Sad about Pete…Nope.

HAPPY about Pete… Yes.

HAPPY he lived a great life. HAPPY he had a beautiful, loving wife. HAPPY he had three beautiful children—Ashley, Zach, and Lucy. HAPPY to have known a decent, honorable, and caring man.

Knew him for sixty years. We laughed, played, and chided every time we got together for golf, camping, skiing and more.

Miss him? Yep……Dearly!

So grateful to have known Peter-such a gentle and kind soul.  Am sending love to  Lucy, Pam, and all who are missing Peter.

Pam, Ashley, Zach, Lucy,

Our hearts are full of love and friendship for all of you, now and always.  We miss Peter, yet we know he will always be with us in spirit.

Love and Hugs, Lana and Tim

We are putting together an audio keepsake that contains stories and messages from family and friends to honor Peter's life.  Peter loved telling stories, and he captivated us all. So seems very fitting that we all take a moment to share our memories, anecdotes, stories, or sentiments to help memorialize him. Leave as many messages as you would like, and don’t forget to say who you are at the beginning of the recording.

Thank you!

I was a high school senior and my friend Toni and I wanted to go to downtown Martinez from Alhambra High School. We did not want to walk and decided to give hitchhiking a go, it  was pretty common in the 70’s. Peter being a good friend of my brother Tim picked us up and gave us quite the lecture! To this day I thank him for his kindness and his ability to reasonably get a point across. A wonderful man who will be missed by many. Peace and love to the family.

Pam…you and Peter have touched me so much through my life and my career at both Ponderosa and Oak Ridge. You both were on the committee interviewing and hiring me at Ponderosa. I always had great respect for both you and Peter and I am sorry for your loss of your wonderful husband and friend. The journey that you have been on has not been easy, and now I hope you are able to look at the joy you had as a couple and family. I pray blessings upon you and your family.

Take care Pam!

With respect and love,

Patty

Pam, my heart goes out to you and your family.  Peter always had a smile on his face, even when he was running past me on Fairway Drive as I was huffing and puffing up the hills.  His memory will always be filled with smiles. I am sure he is smiling and at peace.
