Penelope's obituary
Penelope was born on March 7, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Stanley and Marie Hurd. She attended Calumet High School and continued her education at the prestigious Northern Illinois College. Penelope married her beloved husband Gerald Danaher in 1965 and together they raised two amazing children Michael and Patricia. She was an Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Sales at New York Blower Company.
Penelope was a loving and wise woman who enjoyed ceramics, bowling, traveling, playing all types of games, reading a great book, but most of all spending time with family. She was heavily involved in her children’s schooling and was the president of the PTA, a den mother in her son’s Cub Scout Pack, swim mom, and was a Girl Scout as well as a Girl Scout Leader for years. Penny was very active in her Church and was on many committees, as well. She touched so many lives and will truly be missed by everyone she met!
Penelope is survived by her loving children Michael (Michele) Danaher, Patricia(Jeffrey) Counter, cherished grandchildren Patrick, Katherine, Caroline Danaher and Aiden Counter; beloved sibling Stanley (Krystyna) Hurd.
She is preceded in passing by her husband Gerald (1997). A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date when we can all be in person again at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Evergreen Park. Cards and Correspondence may be sent to Penny’s home.
