Peggy's obituary

Peggy Lou Regnier of Colville, WA, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2022, just days after her 90th birthday. She was born in February of 1932 on her grandmother’s kitchen table in Finely, WA to Albert and Viola Aylward. She was the oldest of four kids, with three younger brothers. Growing up at the beginning of the Great Depression and on into World War II made a massive impact on her, making her incredibly resourceful, independent, and resilient. She spent most of her youth growing up in and around Walla-Walla, WA. Although she was dealt a great deal of adversity throughout her life, she was never a victim of her circumstances, but always treated it as an opportunity to find a unique way to make something work out. At an early age, she learned to be resourceful in a time when money was tight. She would pick up glass bottles in the allies behind businesses and turn them in for money. She had a paper route and would babysit for neighbors and friends. As she got a little older, she worked as an Usherette in the local theaters, and eventually as a waitress at a local roller rink. She was married at a young age, and soon had her first and only daughter, Vikki, at age 17. She eventually went on to cosmetology school and became a beautician. Unfortunately, her first marriage ended in divorce, and she went on to marry and divorce 3 more individuals. At 29, she was introduced to a couple of missionaries, who provided her with some pamphlets and tracts regarding the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was greatly impacted by the words that she read and soon was baptized into the Church. The Church and its teachings of Christ became a huge part of her adult life and had a powerful influence on her everyday living. Always looking for ways to serve people around her, Peggy provided a wonderful example of love through acts of kindness and service. She would later meet and marry her fifth and final husband Bill, who she claimed was the love of her life. She had a natural beauty about her, and an incredible eye and talent for interior decorating and design. Through a friend, she soon found herself decorating and designing entire office buildings, apartments, and retirement homes in and around the Seattle area. Despite her success in Seattle, she and Bill eventually moved down to Sandy, Utah so she could be closer to her only daughter, and granddaughter, and be an influence in their lives. She spent a great deal of time in her backyard, creating beautiful gardens and landscaping, which she loved to share with others. When she wasn’t in her backyard, she could be found serving in various ways; whether in the local Temple, Bishop Storehouse, or in the community service projects that she was often in charge of. In 1998, she and her family all moved up to Boyds, WA in an attempt at owning and operating a restaurant. In 2003 she lost Bill to cancer and shifted her efforts to taking care of her elderly mother until 2009 when Viola passed away. In 2018, she suffered a heart attack and moved in with her granddaughter Amber, who took care of her, and spent her remaining time enjoying her four great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Gary Aylward, her daughter Vikki L. Powers, her granddaughter Amber S. King, and her four great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Peggy will be greatly missed for her creativity, faith, fortitude, willingness to serve others, quick sense of humor, and deep love for her family. Memorial Services will be performed at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 260 E. Juniper Avenue in Colville, WA on Friday, March 18 at 3 PM. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
