Peggy's obituary
Peggy Marie "Domino" Taylor of Seabrook, Texas passed away on January 24, 2024, at the age of 71. She died of natural causes due to complications with many health battles and long-term illness. She passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. She was the loving partner to Rick and loving mother to Stephanie and Matthew.
Our mother was a kind, caring, and giving person who believed that friends are the family that we choose for ourselves, and this was evident in her many lifelong friends. She was a strong woman who faced challenges in her life with courage and dignity. Our mother was also a fierce and spirited person with the best sense of humor, she was a source of inspiration to us all and will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Growing up, Peggy was a woman of strong faith. She instilled in us the importance of family, hard work, and doing what was right. Alongside family, community was the lighthouse of her life. She loved the beach since she was young, growing up in the Corpus Christi area and split time spending summers with her sister, visiting her Granny and Papa on their farm in Cleveland, Texas. Her love of dance began when was a little girl. With her love of music, she sang and played piano hymns in church, and played the clarinet in marching band. During her college years at Sam Houston State, her creative side bloomed a bouquet of hobbies and interests that guided her to many avenues in life filled with adventures. She lived in the Humble area and then moved to Kingwood. With journalism, photography, and ad sales she worked her way up to publisher of the "The Humble Echo" during print media's heydey, Then she moved on to radio, with Z-Rock Houston, which is where she got her nickname "Domino". She had fun coordinating some of the Spring Break Beach Bashes and even managed a few local rock bands. Her love of travel and aviation grew while married to her second husband (a pilot and wonderful father, who loved airshows with the family). The family relocated to Seabrook. Sprinkled in between community theater with The Farpoint Theatre, and some area festivals, one of her highlights was the work she did with the Gulf Coast Film Festival for many years. She had the honor to work with both Seabrook and Kemah municipalities and associations in the areas of tourism, event planning, and charity fundraising. She was once voted Seabrook's Citizen of the Year. She bridged the two communities while simultaneously writing for THE SCENE Magazine, and being the events director for the City of Kemah, or better known as the Director of Fun and Excitement! She had fun with her Mardi Gras Krewe (Krewe du Lac) and felt at home visiting The Texas Rennaissance Festival. She was a plucky, playful, polite pirate. Her favorite vacation spot was Grand Cayman. She was a fan of SNL and Survivor on TV. She enjoyed a good picnic on the beach. Her most favorite pastime was watching the sailboat races and sunsets from her front porch on Clear Lake, with her sweet doggie Anne Bonny.
Peggy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Marie Wright; Parents, E.L. Jr. and Billie Smith; first husband Steve Adams. And her beloved cat Capt. Jack.
She is survived by her sweet sister Gayle Smith; her loving partner Rick Eldridge. She is also survived by her second husband Gary Taylor (and wife Steffanie Taylor); her devoted children Stephanie Williams (and partner Chris Wedemeyer) and Matthew Taylor ( and wife Amanda Taylor); her endearing grandchildren Mia and Morgan Williams; Zypher, Zane, ZuZu, and Ziggy Taylor; and step-grandchildren Christopher and Megan Wedemeyer.
Peggy was a true role model, who we will always look up to; A dreamer, a dancer, a lover of life! A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us in the springtime for a celebration of life.
