Peggy's obituary
Peggy Ann Maguire passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 28, 2024 in the home of her son, Jody, daughter-in-law Jen and grandchildren, Carter and Ruby. Peggy was born on July 16, 1956 and grew up on Amherst Road in Albertson, NY until she was 18 years old. Peggy AKA “Greeka,” left behind two children (Lisa and Jody), five grandchildren (Ella, Anabel, Juliette, Carter, Ruby), and many more friends, extended family members, and loving coworkers.
Peggy had many jobs during her lifetime, including: Burger King employee (“hold the pickles hold the lettuce”), stay-at-home-mom, waitress, property manager, housecleaner, speech pathologist and teacher. No matter what her job was, she was reliable, a hard worker and a great decision maker.
At the age of 34, Peggy was accepted into the University of Florida, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology. A few years later, she went back for a master’s degree in special education. Peggy taught hundreds of children in her career and touched many students and families with her tough love and commitment to their growth. In her free time, Peggy never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune which led to her future success as a Wordle Star (see her Facebook page for stats). Peggy was funny, sarcastic, kind and baudy. She brought warmth and humor to many of the people she knew in her lifetime and she will be remembered fondly.
