Peggy's obituary
Peggy Elkins, 84, San Rafael, CA, passed away on January 01, 2023 joining her beloved son and family in heaven with her loving Lord and savior.
Peggy, was born on July 18, 1938 to Onie Agnes and John Lawrence in a small town in Oklahoma. Being the youngest of eight children she immediately brought joy into the world through her sweet spirit and demeanor. Peggy went on to graduate from high school receiving a full academic scholarship to University of Oklahoma. However, she met and fell in love with a charming young man in the service from California,Lee Elkins. In 1954 he proposed before she graduated from high school and convinced her to move to California after graduation. They were married for over 30 years and had 3 children Larry, Jerry and Lisa. Peggy was a fiercely dedicated mom, sister, daughter, friend and wife. She raised her children with unconditional love and family came first above all else to Peggy. She made sure that annual family trips were made driving cross country to visit her large extended family in Duncan, Oklahoma where her parents and many siblings resided. Every holiday, birthday and sporting event were well attended and celebrated!
Peggy was predeceased by her father and mother, as well as all her siblings: Troy Ray, Carlton and Edgar Lawrence, Mary Gillespie, Noma Greenroyd, Sue Reader and Ann Hines as well as her son, Larry Lee Elkins.
She is survived by Jerry Elkins, Lisa Elkins-Reuter, Gabrielle Reuter, Nathan Tredway, Samantha Elkins, Brinleigh Murphy-Reuter, Aislish Murphy-Reuter, Beckett Murphy-Reuter, Cole Tredway and Taylor Tredway, all family members who are still alive.
Peggy’s love of her dear friends from Leggett; all her nieces and nephews; children and grandchildren was only rivaled by her love of dominos! She was fiercely committed to winning and could play for hours even after battling dementia and a severe stroke she could muster up the strength to play. The joy on her face made you feel like you were coming home for Christmas. However, on a serious note she always said, “we don’t love things more than people.”
