Peggy's obituary

Peggy L. (Johnson) Driscoll

Age 74, passed away peacefully July 4, 2025 at Clarendale in St. Peters, Missouri.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Peggy was the daughter of the late Clark and Virginia Johnson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin (Marty) J. Driscoll.

Peggy is lovingly remembered by her sister, Karen (Dennis) Herrle; her daughters, Megan (Brett) O’Daniell and Laura (Will) Edwards; her cousin, Pam (Jeff) Winterfeldt; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Estella, and Liam Edwards, and Owen O’Daniell; and her nieces, Emily Winterfeldt and Jennifer Steele. She also leaves behind her dear lifelong friends: Annie, Lee, Rob (Jenny), Katie Lesciotto, and Pam Levy.

Peggy was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She loved spending time in her garden and taking long walks with friends. Peggy held fond memories of her early work in downtown Chicago with International Harvester Company before starting her family. Later, she enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a teacher and librarian in the New Lenox School District. She attended Valparaiso University and earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Masters in Library Science from Governors State University. A faithful sister in Christ, Peggy was an active member of United Methodist Church in New Lenox, IL and St. Charles Christian Church in St. Charles, MO. Her faith and kindness touched the lives of many, and she cultivated countless, meaningful friendships throughout her life’s journey. Peggy demonstrated sacrificial love to her children and grandchildren. Peggy was happiest when surrounded by her family.

In lieu of a traditional funeral, the family will celebrate Peggy’s life the weekend of September 13-14, 2025, at Matthiessen State Park in LaSalle County, Illinois with an intimate and informal gathering. Her ashes, along with Marty’s, will be spread in this special place close to the family’s heart. More details will be provided in the near future.

DONATIONS:

We have made the prayerful decision to buy and donate her very special hi/lo hospital bed and fall mats for the use of other residents in her memory care unit. The rented medical equipment was a gift to mom from God that protected her from countless falls, and the director of memory care is thrilled that more residents will benefit from this blessing. We will also be donating goodies to her caretakers who meant so much to our family. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers towards these efforts please use this Venmo account. If you have any questions just let us know. https://venmo.com/u/Megan-ODa…

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
