Peggy Coauette, 57, passed away at Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital with her husband at her side on January 14th, 2025 after a battle with kidney and lung cancer.

Peggy was born on May 24th, 1967 to Fern and Oreen Hetland in Crookston, MN. She grew up in Crookston, and over the years she raised her family in Fargo and Jamestown North Dakota, and Crookston and Burnsville Minnesota. Peggy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, caregiver and friend. Her humor, kindness, and fun loving spirit will be missed by many.

Peggy was a hard working certified nursing assistant in many settings for over 30 years. After her cancer diagnosis in 2023 she was forced to stop working to focus on treatment. Her coworkers and patients appreciated her work ethic, compassion, and dedication to her profession.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Fern and Oreen Hetland, half-sisters Janice Fay Joseph and Mary J. Hetland, brother-in-law Jon Perry, niece Leah Perry, and grandchild Wren.

Peggy is survived by her spouse Mitch Coauette; children Jessica Nelson, Brey Nelson (Ryan Ringstead), Desirae (Thomas) Otto, and Josh Burton; her grandchildren Angel Nelson, Isaac Dumdai, Athena and Desmond Otto; her siblings Penny Perry, Tammy (Glen) Moe, Nancy (Denny) Hobbs, and Paul Hetland as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and her dog Riley.

Peggy’s life will be honored with two gatherings. A funeral service will be held in her memory March 7th at 2:00pm at the Benedictine Chapel located at 516 Walsh St Crookston, MN 56716 (please use door 2). Additionally, a celebration of life will take place on Peggy’s birthday, May 24th, at 2:00pm at Highland Park Lions Shelter 502 Barrette St, Crookston, MN 56716.
