Peggy was my husband’s accountant and when I first met her, she greeted me as if she had known me for years. I loved that hug and greeting ( New York accent).

Peggy and I loved to have discussions at tax time and other times. After I told her that I was retiring, she asked me how I was going to live. She informed me that I was poor. I happily told her that I was to consider the lilies of the fields and the eye that is on the sparrow and that I had laid up treasures in heaven where moths and thieves can't get to them. She took a step back and smiled.
On the final call I made to her was to locate my 2020 tax return copy. She said I'll locate it and get back to you. She then called me back and stated that her brother found it and did I pay her. I said I don't know, maybe I didn't and that's why I don't have a copy. So, I paid and my copy was delivered. She informed me that she was in the hospital and was diagnosed with heart cancer. I stated to her that there was no such thing. I had been a Registered Nurse for over 40 years and had not ever heard of such. Bear in mind, I only took care of newborn infants. Then I said, well Peggy, if it is so then only you would have this diagnosis. You just can't go with the norms like breast, colon, kidney (like me) cancer. We laughed and I fussed a little more with her while my heart was heavy. I greatly appreciated the love and the person that I came to know as the girl who squeezed a dollar til it hollered. When it came to taxes she would look thru my receipts and say, "I know you had to buy uniforms and I don't see the receipts." I would try to give her some excuse and she just was not going to have it. It's a good thing that I have retired cause I will never find another Peggy. Passing by Water's Edge and knowing my friend no longer lives there makes me sad. God bless you family as you continue this journey through life without her. Till that great gettin up morning hold on to God's unchanging hand.

Statement from the Family
We appreciate the outpouring of support we have received from friends, family and the community. It is comforting to know that Peggy touched so many lives. Due to time limitations a small number of people have been selected to speak at the service, but the family would love to hear from anyone who wants to share. So we invite you to send a short 2-minute video with your sentiments. We will edit them together and play them at the repast as a tribute to Peggy.
